2015 – Best Paper Award at the 31st International Conference on Logic Programming (ICLP 2015), Cork (Ireland)
ICLP, the major international conference on logic programming, sponsored by the Association for Logic Programming (ALP), awarded Nicola Leone and Mario Alviano for their research on  “Complexity and Compilation of GZ-Aggregates in Answer Set Programming”.

2013 – Biennal Italian prize for the best Ph.D.Thesis on topics of Computational Logic
The biennial prize for the best Ph.D. Thesis in Italy on topics of Computational Logic was awarded to a young Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Calabria, Annamaria Bria. The thesis is entitled Normal Form Nested Programs and has been supervised by the prof. Wolfgang Faber and prof. Nicola Leone of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of University of Calabria. The prestigious award was presented during the XXVIII Congress of Italian Computational Logic, CILC 2013, which was held at the University of Catania.

2012 – Prize for the best Italian Thesis in Artificial Intelligence
The Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AIxIA) awarded to Dr.Carmine Dodaro, graduated in Computer Science at University of Calabria, the prize for the best thesis in Artificial Intelligence. The thesis is entitled WASP: A New Model Generator.

2012 – ECCAI prize
